Investment Details

Brisk Teaching has successfully raised a total of $6.9 million in funding, including a $5 million seed round led by Owl Ventures. The funds will be allocated towards expanding the team, accelerating product development, and increasing the company’s global presence.

The investment also comes from existing supporters such as South Park Commons, Springbank Collective, Coherence Fund, and Coalition Operators.

Introduction of Brisk Boost

In conjunction with the funding announcement, Brisk has unveiled Brisk Boost, an AI-powered tool designed for educational environments. This tool enables teachers to create personalized learning experiences using existing materials like online textbooks and videos. It offers students real-time feedback and adaptive support, seamlessly integrating into the company’s existing Chrome extension, which is already utilized by approximately one in ten teachers in the United States.

Features and Impact

  • Brisk Boost facilitates the creation of interactive activities such as quizzes and brainstorming prompts.
  • The tool customizes tasks based on individual student needs, while also providing teachers with insights into student progress.
  • It aims to alleviate the administrative burden on teachers, thereby supporting differentiated instruction that would otherwise be labor-intensive.

Arman Jaffer, founder and CEO of Brisk Teaching, emphasized the importance of easing teacher workloads, stating that the funding will help in scaling the Boost tool, enabling personalized learning without sacrificing quality.

User Experience and Market Trends

More than 500,000 teachers across 30,000 school districts currently use the Brisk Chrome extension. The platform integrates with various curriculum systems and learning management tools, automating grading and lesson planning tasks that often go unseen but add significantly to teacher workloads.

A Brisk user, Kelly Ann Seaman, praised the tool, sharing that it has significantly improved her teaching experience and allowed her to provide quality feedback swiftly.

Regarding the shifting perspective on AI usage in education, Jaffer noted that initial resistance is giving way to a more explorative approach as educators look to leverage AI tools like Boost to enhance teaching efficiency.
