5. Literary Tradition

The Slovenian language has a vibrant literary tradition, dating back to the 16th century. One of the first notable works in Slovenian is the "Translation of the Bible," which was completed in 1584 by translator and Protestant preacher Jurij Dalmatin. Over the following centuries, the language blossomed through the works of many esteemed authors and poets, such as France Prešeren, who is considered Slovenia’s greatest poet. His contribution to Slovenian literature played a critical role in the development of national identity. Today, contemporary Slovenian literature continues to thrive, contributing to the global literary scene.
