The Illyrian language was primarily spoken by the Illyrian tribes in the western part of the Balkan Peninsula, covering modern-day Albania, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and parts of Serbia. The language existed from at least the 4th century BC until its gradual decline post-Roman conquest around the 1st century AD.
