Profiles of the Awardees
- Maureen McCoy: As a teaching professor in the College of Health Solutions, McCoy focuses on improving food access and nutritional education for students. She aims to enhance food literacy and teach students to prepare nutritious meals with limited resources.
- Trevor Reed: A law professor and faculty director of ASU’s Indigenous Innovation Initiative, Reed is dedicated to protecting Indigenous creators' rights. His plans include developing training programs to assist Indigenous entrepreneurs and artists with intellectual property navigation.
- Carolyn Cavanaugh Toft: Toft, who teaches large-enrollment psychology classes, employs storytelling to connect with students. With over 16,000 students taught, she emphasizes critical thinking and engagement in her teaching methods.
- Heather Bateman: Bateman integrates hands-on learning with wildlife conservation and supports students' professional development by providing resources for fieldwork. She is committed to creating opportunities for students to apply their learning outside the classroom.
Looking Ahead: Nominations Open for 2025 Awards
ASU is currently accepting nominations for the 2025 Provost Teaching Awards and Charter Professorships. Each year, two faculty members are selected for each honor. Nominations, which can only be submitted by deans or their designees, are due by April 16.
